Card Exchange License Dongle

The USB Dongle is solely used as a third option for marrying the license to it rather than the default network port OR the hard drive.

It has no impact on what license type can be used as both a standalone license and a Network license can use a USB Dongle with a hard coded machineID.

If the customer wants to use a license on a Server OS they will require a Network license.

The use of a Network license will always require the use of the license manager.

The USB Dongle just allows you to marry the license to it rather than the default network port or the hard drive.

The USB Dongle would be used with a local license on the host computer to marry to OR would be used on the server hosting the license manager to marry the Network license to it there.

The USB Dongle does not change how the licenses work and simply provide a third hardware option to marry the license to regardless of whether its a stand along license or a Network license.

If they upgraded to use a Network license the USB Dongle would then be installed on the machine hosting the license manager and you would then marry the Network licenses to that USB Dongle which is attached to the same license manager host machine.

In a Network license environment, the license is not hosted or applied on the client end so there would be no need for the USB Dongle to be installed and used on the client end.
