Understanding Filters in Card Exchange

Modified on Fri, 24 Nov, 2023 at 4:22 PM

Each card template can have its own database source and database properties including filters.

The filters when created are stored in the database definition file or "DTD" in use by the card template.

Even when the card template is using a single database source the card template can have its own properties for that single database source.

You have 2 options for copying filter settings to different templates.

First option is to duplicate the settings from the card template that's working the way you want and apply those setting to other card templates. This is the preferred method as it allows as each card template and the database definition file associated with that template to have its own unique properties even when using a single database source.

Second option is to connect all the card templates to the same database definition file however, any change to one card template database definition properties affects all cards using that database definition file so it can potentially cause issues if you need subtle differences and changes to be made for each card template.

Under the configuration tab go to the advanced options.

Within the advanced options window ensure the show advanced mappings is checked and enabled.

This will add two new buttons to the configuration tab with the card-definition wizard and mappings window.

Select the card template.

Open the card-definition wizard.

You will see the section “do you want to connect to a database?”

This is checked and enabled and you will see the database definition .dtd file in use by this card template.

You can select the 3 dot button and choose to use the database definition .dtd file in use by the card template that has the filters you wish to use.

Do this for all card templates you wish to change to the same database definition .dtd file.
