1. Print the self-generated test card.

The DOH 300 can print an internal Test Card independently of its Host Computer. This function is useful test to check the Printer is working correctly without involving any Computer software or Printer Driver settings.

From the printer front panel (LCD)
Menu -> Print test -> Are you sure -> Yes

Did this print OK?

2. Print the WINDOWS TEST PAGE?

Did this print OK?

3. Print from different application i.e.

We have some basic MS Word templates you can download here;

https://techs.magicard.com/templates

Download and extract the zip file within the extracted folder.
Look under the general_examples.
Open the single sided template.
Print.

Did this print OK? or  hang or reboot scenario?

Establish the (PSU) Power supply unit currently they are using? (Photo showing the info on the power block) It’s possible the customer was using an older DOH printer model and they had upgraded to this unit now – although it is the same PSU manufacturer, but the volts are different on the new power supply.

4.  Running through checks on Smart Card Encoder

Here is walkthrough for testing the Elatec encoder on any of the Magicard Generation 2 models (Rio Pro 360, 300, 600, etc.).I hope maybe this is of some help?

Testing the Elatec TWN4 MultiTech 2 dual encoder;

First, look for the encoder in Device Manager;

Is should be listed under Smart card readers as SmartCard Slot

Right-click on the device and choose Properties then the Driver tab.
The Driver Provider should be Elatec;

If the Microsoft driver is installed (sometimes by default),
Download the Elatec driver from here;

To install it, extract the driver folder and install.bat file from the zip archive;
Run the Install.bat file; (tip: It’s best to run as administrator)

Remove power from the printer, then re-connect.

Check again in Device Manager that the Elatec driver is in use (see above).

Next, in Devices & Printers (on the Devices section at the top), you should see two encoders;

Once both encoders are seen in Device Manager, you may proceed to the next stage;

Elatec Test Utility;

We have a test utility available for the Elatec TWN4 MultiTech 2 encoder.
You can download it from here;

Extract the MSI installer from the zip archive and run it.
I don’t think it creates a desktop shortcut.

It’s installed in this folder if you wish to create a shortcut to it;

Program Files (x86)\Magicard\Magicard Gen 2 Elatec Testing Tool

Run the Elatec Test Utility;

Select the encoder from the drop-down;

Load a card to the contactless encoding position in the printer here;

Next, select the printer you are communicating with;

The card will load to the contactless encoding position from the hopper.
Once the card is in position, you should now see some information from the card;

To eject the card from the printer;

Contact Chip Smart Cards;

The same procedure above can be used for contact smart cards.
But choose;

Below is an example of the output from the utility with a contact chip smart card inserted;
