When printing via a network connection the HDP5000 printer takes a long time to start printing after the print job has been sent to the printer. This is frequently noticeable when printing a PDF file.
Usually the time it takes for the printer to start printing can be reduced significantly by changing the communication mode to Half Duplex
To set the HDP5000 printers network communication to half duplex requires that Telnet be enabled on your PC.
The following steps show how to use Telnet to set the printers network communication to Half Duplex.
These steps were copied from a Windows XP system.
If you are using Vista or Windows 7 or Windows 10, your screen may look different, but the steps are similar.
Click the Windows key + R to open the Run Windows and type CMD for open the comand prompt
In the command prompt window, type Telnet followed by the IP address of your printer.
For the login user type root (case sensitive)
The default password is idcard (case sensitive) then hit Enter key on the keyboard.
Next, type store ifc mode 10half and then Enter
Telnet should return ok indicating that the change has been made.
