Magicard Printer Checking Hardware Connectivity

Modified on Tue, 30 Mar, 2021 at 9:03 AM

Have you tried using a known ‘good’ USB printer cable?. Maximum length 1.8 M.

The ID card support utility does not need a driver installed to communicate with the printer. Download the latest version here;

Checking printer connectivity

·                       Once opened, select the connection method – ie USB.

If your printer is recognised, you will see it appear in the USB PRINTER SELECTION:

At this point you can be sure your computer is successfully connecting to the printer.

If it does not appear:

-try disconnecting the USB cable and reattaching it.

-Use another port

-Or, try the same test again on another PC

Additionally possibly it’s using an older driver versions.

As you may probably aware..

In cases like this, we have a removal script that can remove all previous versions of Magicard drivers.

It must run with local admin rights however.

The link to the removal script is here;

Before starting any of the steps, ensued the printer is disconnected from the PC.

You can either use this too;

Fairly straight forward, Once it detected the driver – Magicard driver or for this instance DOH.

Simply select remove.

It has no warning though, it will automatically re-start.

(Ensure the printer USB isn’t connected)

Disconnect the printer (USB)

Download and install the latest driver v2.5.0.300 from here; https://support.magicard.com/solution/driver/

The only trick you need to be aware of when installing Magicard driver, the printer should not be connected while the driver install is started. The driver would then prompts you to power on ( i.e. connect the USB) and the set-up continues.

Once the driver is installed, connect the printer on USB.

Please run through the attached checklist (win_10_checklist.pdf).

These points are important not only on Windows 10, but all operating systems.

They will ensure the printer always has ‘status’
