On different flavour/ versions of Mac OSX you might need to allow this security below;
Allowing Third Party Applications to Install on a MAC
Some applications are not signed by Apple and will not be able to be installed. If you trust the application and know you want to install it, follow these steps to allow third party apps to install.
- Open "System Preferences" by clicking on the Apple icon and choosing that option.
- Select "Security & Privacy" from the "System Preferences" window.
- Select the "General" tab, and select the lock in the lower left corner to allow changes.
- Enter your computer username and password, then select "Unlock."
- In the "Allow apps downloaded from:" section, select the radio button to the left of "Anywhere."
- Close the window. You can now install unsigned applications that you trust.
- For security reasons, you may want to repeat this process checking "Mac App Store" on step five in order to turn this feature back off.
- The latest Mac OS-X driver -1.0.19 pkg file. Can be downloaded from here: http://techs.magicard.com/mac/driver/V1.0.19/Magicard%20MAC%20OS-X%20Driver-1.0.19RC2s.pkg
- Once you’ve run the pkg file, just hit install. It will automatically do all the work for you – you will see ‘ The installation was successful’
- This is the time to Connect your USB – You should be able to see the printer ‘Magicard 300’ from Printer & scanners.
You use to be able to, do a test page
Under printers and scanners.
Select Magicard 300 -> Options & Supplies
Utility Tab -> Print test page
I think this was taken – You can only do this via CUPS. Which I will cover shortly.
For anything else, all info can be found here https://support.magicard.com/solution/mac-osx-printer-driver/.
You shouldn’t have to do this, but I will add it anyway just in case. ‘Providing the latest pkg has been successfully installed’
Adding the printer.
- System preferences -> printers & scanners
- I believe there is (+) button – add printer or scanner
- You would need to connect the card printer USB and it should display in the list box ‘ (Magicard 300) V2’
- Select add
To enable the CUPS interface.
- Copy and paste = cupsctl WebInterface=yes
- To get to Terminal
click the magnifying glass in the top right hand corner of your screen and search for 'Terminal'.
paste in 'cupsctl WebInterface=yes' and click enter
Now you should be able to go to localhost:631 in your SAFARI – url browser.
and see your installed printers.
Printer TAB > Select Magicard 300 > just above tope left, there is a dropdown options > where you can do a test page
You should be able to also see the installed printer(s) – (Magicard 300) V2’
