Always do the USB installation first before the network installation.
Task 1: Install the printer in USB mode
- Assuming the SwiftPro K30 has been installed or upgraded with the latest firmware. Run the printer driver with system admin rights.
- Follow the screen below but without connecting the USB to the printer.
Click next to continue the installation.
Pick the USB setup option. Click Next to continue.
Ensure the printer is turned off or USB cable is disconnected from the PC on which the driver is being installed.the
Once the following screen appears, it indicates the USB driver has been installed correctly.
- At this point, reconnect the printer with the USB cable and recycle the printer's power to boot it into USB mode (see the USB icon shown on the LCD panel).
Once the printer USB connection has been established properly the status monitor should show the following:
Under the printer & devices, the USB printer driver should appear like the following: - Perform a couple of test prints to confirm the printer has been installed properly in USB mode.
Task 2: Install the printer in Network mode
- Run the Swiftpro Printer Utility to set up the network parameters. The utility can be accessed through the Windows Start menu by selecting Programs / Swiftpro Card Printer / Printer Utility.
- Click the ‘Host Interface’ tab, and click ‘login to save change’, the following screen will appear.
Note: Try to log on the machine by typing in the password. For example, our printer uses the password ‘abc123’. - Assuming a typical static IP installation, disable both DHCP settings for IPV4 and IPV6 respectively. After that, type in the network parameters, see the example below:
- Static IP address
- Subnet mask
- Default gateway
Press Save to Printer to make the network information to be registered to the printer cache memory. See the below picture.
- Connect the Ethernet cable and recycle the printer to boot the printer into network mode (see the network icon on the LCD panel). Make sure the USB connection has been removed first.
- At this point, you may verify the printer connection by a ping command, like the following:
Run the printer registration utility:
- Click ‘Register by IP Address’ to register the printer onto the network mode with a new driver to be installed.
When the following windows pop up, select the appropriate printer model. In this case it needs to be ‘Swiftpro K30’ instead of 'Swifpro K60’ which is the default. Type in the IP address of the printer that needs to be registered, see the following screenshot as an example.
2. Click OK, and if the printer can be discovered properly, the related printer information will be displayed as in the following screen.
Note: It is suggested that to change the name “Swiftpro K30 Card Printer #2” to a more meaningful name like ‘Swiftpro K30 Card Printer Network”.
Then Click ‘Register’, then a confirmation screen will show the network connection is established.
Immediately the Swifpro status monitor will display a new network printer having the status shown as ‘Idle’, while the initial USB printer shows ‘Offline’.
The new network printer driver icon will also appear alongside the USB printer driver.
3. printsPerform a couple of test prints from the driver or badge production apps to ensure the printer has been set up properly.
