Task 1: Install the latest driver on the printer
Got Zebra website and download the latest version of the driver:
https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/printers/card/zc300.html
Install the USB driver and optionally install the latest firmware as needed. Once installed, go to Printing Preferences and select Advanced Settings.
Under Connectivity choose Wired Network, then enter the appropriate information as shown:
Assuming a static IP is used (which is typical for a network printer installation), key in the following info:
- IP Address
- Subnet Address
- Gateway
- DNS Server Address (if you don’t know you may run nslookup on a Windows command prompt to find out)
- Printer DNS Name (just a name it may register on the DNS server)
Note: The DNS Server Address is mandatory for ZC300 network installation. Also, make sure SNMP is turned on to allow the discovery of the printer over the network.
Double-check if the IP address/Subnet Address/Default Gateway information has been registered correctly via the LCD panel on the ZC300 printer as shown below.
Task 2: Rerun the driver to set up network printing
Rerun the driver and pick the ‘Modify’ option. Once the option is picked, continue the installation by following messages shown on the screen.
Click Next, and pick the 'Install Ethernet printer drivers' option. Once clicked, follow the message on screen to continue the installation.
Click Next, when the below screen shows, disconnect the USB cable and connect the printer with an Ethernet cable. At this point recycle the power of the printer to allow it to boot into network mode.
If the IP address and the related information have been registered correctly, the IP address of the printer should be displayed in the list alongside its MAC address.
Pick an IP address from the list associated with a printer to be installed, and it will be entered automatically in the white box in the middle of the page.
Click Next to continue the driver installation until the following two screens appear signifying the installation has been completed.
After that, a newly configured network driver icon (beside the USB driver icon) should appear under printers & scanners.
Task 3: Verify network connection and perform test prints
To verify the printer has been connected and can print correctly, perform the following tasks:
- Ping the registered IP address of the printer. If the printer responds to the ping command correctly, it verifies that the connection is good (see below figure):
- Check the printer status by looking at the top of the driver page in Printer Preferences, it should show the printer is in an idle state.
- Perform a test print via the printer preferences. It is suggested that both the configuration test card and graphic test card should be printed to verify printing is good from the driver.
- Perform test print from badge production apps to see if printing is good. If printing from an app is okay, then the ZC300 has been installed correctly on the network.
