How to install the latest drivers and update the firmware on a K30 (Internal)

The latest drivers for the K30 will allow you to install the printer without disabling core isolation.

In order to install the latest drivers on your K30, you will need to install the latest firmware as well.

However, in order to install the firmware the printer will need to be recognised on your PC, so some old drivers will need to be on there already, or temporarily installed in the meantime.

You can find a folder with everything you need in the file path below:

You will first need to run the 'PrinterFirmwareUpdateTool', this is a program we use to update the firmware. Running the install wizard will create a shortcut on your desktop, click this to open the program.

(Please note, while the tool is only officially supported on Windows 10 devices, it does seem to work on Windows 11 in my personal experience)

If your printer has been installed correctly, it will be recognised and appear on the list of printers to update at the top.

Select an output folder and click 'Generate a request file' This request file will then be generated in the folder you designate.

This file will be called 'PrinterUpdateRequest'. You will need to email this request file to KIS support, who will in turn send you a file called 'PrinterUpdateReponse', this is the firmware update.

Each firmware update file is linked to the MAC address of the printer that generated the request file. So you cannot re-use an old update on a second printer.

 Once KIS has sent you their response file. Go back to the firmwareupdatetool and click the 'Update firmware' tab on the top.

Click 'Select File' at the top and then navigate to where you have saved the firmware response file and double click to upload.

Click 'Import'

Then click 'Update Firmware'

If all runs successfully then your printer will now be on the brand new firmware. Now all that is left is to install the drivers. Luckily, this is the easy part.

Just click on the link in the file path above called 'swiftpro_windows_100_build020' and go through the installation wizard.
