Card Exchange - out of Memory

Modified on Mon, 13 Sep, 2021 at 5:29 PM

Memory issues typically occur for a variety of reasons specifically incorrect design of the template and accessing the designer multiple times to add or make changes.

The design itself should be completed and finalized with all content applied within the main application.
Additionally, the memory issues most often occur when using images that are too large.

Keep in mind Card Exchange is only a 32bit application and can at most only allocate up to about 1 gig of physical memory at which time you will hit that cap and generate that type of error requiring a restart to use it again so the physical memory o the machine really does not play a role since we are limited in how much memory the software can allocate.

Card Exchange  is designed to use printers that can typically only print 300x300 dpi so modern images taken by DSLR or camera phones are typically far too big and should be shrunk prior to use.

Ensure the objects on the design are not set to the default fixed image or fixed text which then requires the changes to be made often which is incorrect as these objects types are intended for a fixed data that wil not be changed often.

Ensure the images being applied are no larger than 600x600 in resolution. Most images are .jpg files and these are compressed image but when applied to the template design will be expanded to their full resolution.
If the resolution is larger than 600x600 this will indeed impact the software greatly and cause the out of memory errors.

If using any external camera sources ensure they are set to the lowest possible resolution available.

Unfortunately, we can only try to mitigate the problems as most modern cameras and images are just too big for what the software was originally designed for so ensuring the images are managed in such a way to limit the memory impact is the only option to avoid these issues.
Let me know how you get along.
