Creating a field with a random number

With EasyBadge this is the process for adding a field that creates a random number.

  1. Add a new text field click  Menu button top left> Modify Database > Add Field and call it what is required. I have called it “Number” but you can call it whatever you need to.

2.    Modify the field to have these properties    Menu button top left> Modify Database > Modify Field

3.    Set the Default line to ‘Random(7)’    7 = the length of Random number, also set Unique to True.

Then create barcode on the design and link it with [Number] in the barcode properties..

Step 1.

Open up your card design by clicking the 'Change a Design' button, you will then get the option to 'Edit an existing design' or 'Create a new design'. Select the appropriate option.

Step 2.

In the design view click the 'New Barcode' icon on the left tool bar and drag and drop the Barcode onto the design area.

Step 3.

In the properties panel on the right of the design area you can now set the properties of the barcode.

In the text area this example shows [Number] so you would need to have a field in your database called 'Number' with some data in it. This links the data in the database to the barcode on the design.

At the bottom of the barcode properties you can select the barcode type you require. This barcode is set to Code 39 a popular barcode. The check digit option is selected by default but you may need to turn this off if it is not required.
