Modified on Wed, 10 Jan at 12:20 PM

Here are the instructions for adjusting the offsets on a Smart Printer to resolve issues with ribbons snapping.

ALWAYS MAKE A NOTE IN CASE OF ANY SETTINGS YOU CHANGE INCASE YOU NEED TO REVERT TO THE ORIGINAL SETTINGS.

If your Smart printer snaps ribbons too often when printing full-colour edge to edge you may need to adjust the print offsets.

1. Insert the supplied driver Installation CD or download the Smart 31/51 installation CD from this page..

https://www.idp-corp.com/index/bbs/board.php?bo_table=s4_1&cate=22

2. Browse to the Utilities folder on the CD and run the CardPrinterConfig.exe.

3. When asked for a password just click OK to get passed the message. By default, no password is set.

4. The Utility will connect to the printer and its name will appear at the top of the program.

5. The centre-left will be a picture of a Black and grey test card. Do not worry about the position of this the diagram is only a rough guide.

6. To the right of the Test card there are the offset values.

7. Look for the ‘Y Start Position’. and This changes the top short edge of the card ( when printing at the black and grey test card) increases this value by 5 units by clicking on the up arrow next to the value 5 times.

8. Look for the ‘Y End Position’. ( when printing the black and grey test card)  decrease the value by 5 Units by clicking on the down arrow 5 times.

9. Click the ‘Set Config’ Button and then try to print the test card. You will need to use a YMCKO ribbon. If you have a YMCFKO ribbon you can just try to print your design.

10. If the ribbon still snaps Increase the Y Start and Decrease the Y End by a few more units and retest.

11. Adjusting the X Offset will improve the long edge if one edge has a bigger margin.

Always ensure your artwork is set up at the correct size, the optimum being 1024 pixels x 640 pixels @ 300 DPI resolution.
