A Primary Key is a field selected in a dataset that is used to differentiate your records from one another. This can be found as the key icon on your dataset (see image below).

You can only have one Primary Key per dataset. It is recommended that your Primary Key be used on a number field such as Id Number or Badge Number. These type of fields are usually very unique to the users record and typically do not have duplicates with other users records. If you put the Primary Key field on the Name field and you have two "Johns" you are adding into the system, EasyBadge Cloud would not be able to tell the difference between the two records and would not allow you to save the record in the system.

Please note: Users should not set an IMAGE field as the Unique Primary Key as this will not allow the import functionality to work properly.

If you do not have a number field such as Id or Badge number, you can simply number your records sequentially (example: 1, 2 , 3, 4). These numbers do not have to show up on your card. The numbers will solely be used by EasyBadge Cloud to recognize the difference between records.
