Some Datacard printers will have a region code set and only consumables with the same code will work.
If a Datacard SD 260,360 or 460 printer is regionalized it will have R010 in the bottom right corner of the LCD, if this is the case then only a ribbon that has a product code ending R010 will work. Like so..
Datacard Product Code = 534700-004-R010
Digital ID SKU = R-DC-534700-004-R010
If the printer does not have a region set it will have EnUS like below.
A printer like this can accept an R010 ribbon if it has the Infocus update applied and the customer does not have any legacy ribbons they need to use up. Eg it’s a brand new printer will all new R010 consumables.
If a legacy ribbon (in formats: YMCKT, YMCKT-KT, ymckT (1/2), and ymckT-KT (1/2) is installed into the regionalized printer, the following error would appear on the LCD: Supply region not valid 224.
Some Datacard printers may have other codes eg the CD815 will have R095 and the SD160 can have R004 code. Again if the printer has a RXXX code, only a ribbon with the same code will work.
Attached some supplementary information from Datacard on this subject including lists of product codes and details on the InFocus update.
