IDP Smart 51/31 Driver and Firmware update

The Install CD Driver you need is below. Click the download button when you are on the webpage to start the download.

If you do not have an extraction utility you can download 7-Zip for free.

Unzip all the downloaded files to your desktop where you can access them easily. 

To Update to the latest printer driver do the following.. 

1.       Turn off the printer with the switch on the back of the machine.  Only connect the printer when prompted.

2.       Look in the downloaded CD Installation files and double click the blue DDInstall.exe icon and follow the onscreen instructions. 

3.       When you run the new installer it will automatically remove the older driver before installing the new driver. When windows shows a warning about the certificate for the driver select “Install Anyway” and Only connect and turn on the printer when you are prompted. 

4.       When the installation is finished click the “close” button 

Firmware Update

To update the printer firmware to the current 1.02.33 version follow these instructions..

NOTE If you have Ribbon seek error and cannot get the error to clear run the CardPrinterDiagnostic.exe (found in utilities folder on CD download) to open it , this action should clear the message. Then close the diagnostic.exe and the printer should stay in a ready state as long as you do not send a print job and should enable you to run the update.

1. Ensure printer is in ready (Ready on LCD or blue light) state before running firmware update.

2. Browse to Smart Installation CD online and download and extract to your PC. , The Utilities folder included in downloadable package

3. Run CardPrinterFirmware.exe

4. Click ‘browse’ button and browse to firmware file you downloaded called smart51_app_1_02_33_SPI_EN.bin

5. Then click update button, you should see firmware update % message on the printer. The printer should reboot once the update has been applied and the printers new firmware version will be reported in the firmware app. The process is complete.
